The last family in the family to arrive in America, Carl Court left Lindlar, near Cologne, Germany only in the late 1840s, disembarking in New York, where he lingered long enough to marry Louisa Mohl in a Lutheran church on 1 October 1850. Their first child was born in Connecticut, the last in Texas. The first four generations came tentatively to light in an unanswered letter from EE Court (buried in Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington DC) to AB Court in 1910 and were expanded by Gunter Sahler, a historian in Lindlar, Germany, in 2007.
