These being the folks who can't pronounce their name—phonetically, it's Magee—but who should be forgiven given that it wasn't their name in the first place. Bear with me while I pull this together. Edward was the sort, apparently, who made his mark rather than sign his name, acres upon acres notwitstanding, and if I recall correctly Daniel wasn't a lot better.

Generation No. 1

Patrick MacGregor, born circa 1618, married Marion MacDonald. Got in trouble with the wrong people, a familiar refrain in this family, apparently woven tightly into the genes.

Generation No. 2

Thomas MacGehee/James McGregor, born 1663 in New Kent County VA and died July 27, 1724 in Prince William County VA, married Anne Baytop [spelling and pronuciation of surname uncertain] about 1688.

Generation No. 3

Edward MacGehee, died January 28, 1771 in Cumberland County VA. Married Elizabeth de Jarnette circa April 4, 1734 in Virginia.

Generation No. 4

Daniel MacGehee, born circa 1730 in Amelia VA. Married Jane Brooke Hodnutt circa 1765 in Virginia.

Generation No. 5

Katharine Brooks Garteray MacGehee, born about July 7, 1783 in Prince Edward County, VA and died circa 1835. Married David Urquhart on April 7, 1799 in Columbus GA.

Generation No. 5

Frances Isabel Garteray Urquhart, born September 14, 1818, married William Waters Garrard on 11 November 1843 in Macon GA.
